Novak Djokovic continues his quest for a first Olympic gold medal on Wednesday at the Paris Olympics, defeating Germany’s Dominik Koepfer 7-5, 6-3 to reach the quarter-finals.
The Serbian star, fresh off a straight-sets victory over rival Rafael Nadal in the second round, showcased his dominance once again. Djokovic took one hour and 37 minutes to secure his win against Koepfer, overcoming a break deficit in the first set and dominating in gruelling baseline rallies to take the lead. In the second set, the 37-year-old won an impressive 95 percent (19/20) of his first-serve points.
Djokovic sealed his victory on the first match point with a punched volley, celebrating with a roar and raising his arms to the sky in front of a crowd filled with Serbian supporters and flags at Court Philippe Chatrier.
