Daniel Ricciardo shared his thoughts on the unfortunate incident, which led to fractured bone in his wrist and sidelined him for this week’s Dutch Grand Prix.
Oscar Piastri had just crashed in turn 3 before Ricciardo arrived on the scene. The Alpha Tauri man had to take avoiding action and crashed himself.
“I remember coming into Turn 3. I had already gotten into the corner and then saw Piastri, so it was either hit him or the wall.” said the 34-year-old.
“When I hit the wall, I didn’t have enough time to take my hands off the steering wheel, so the wheel came and hit my hand.”
Liam Lawson will step in to take Ricciardo’s place in what would be his first ever F1 start.
Meanwhile, the disappointed Aussie vowed to come back stronger as he just resurrected his career, coming back in an Alpha Tauri seat in the place of Nyck de Vries.
