Two championships will be rewarded with an extra spot through the European Performance Spots, as that is possible after the UCL became a 36-club tournament.
Serie A had been out in front for much of the campaign, and its place in the top 2 was secured as 3 of its clubs made the ½ finals while the EPL lost 4 of its 5 remaining teams at the ¼ finals.
No Serie A club made it to the ¼ finals of the Champions League, but with AS Roma and Atalanta advancing to the ½ finals of the Europa League, and Fiorentina into the ½ finals of the Europa Conference League, Italian 1st tier league has the highest coefficient score from all championships and cannot finish outside the top 2.
