Spain is the new women’s World Champion. La Roja beat England 1-0 in the World Cup final at the Olympic Stadium in Sydney, Australia. The only goal that turned out to be victorious for Spain was scored by Olga Garcia in the 29th minute of the match.
After very intense first 20 minutes, Spain opened the scoring. Mariona Caldenti found Olga Garcia in a wonderful fashion, who with her first touch, was able to beat Earps and open the scoring.

England squandered another clear goal-scoring opportunity in the 42nd minute when Hemp played the ball on to Alesha Russo, who controlled and fired from inside the box, but her shot failed to hit the target.
After the break Mariona Caldenti entered the penalty area, but the ball hit the hand of Keira Walsh. Spain were awarder a penalty in the 70th minute, but Jennifer Hermoso shot low and Earps guessed the corner right to save.
The added time of the match was 13 minutes, but they were not enough for England to reach the equalizing goal.
