The world No.1 was on the verge of crashing out, after having to save 2 match points in the second set. A blistering forehand and a well-time backhand saved her skin and send the set into a tie-break, where the Pole proved the better player and deservedly won.
From then onwards, Swiatek was in full control of the match and managed to wrap it up with a clean final set of 6-3.
It will be the Pole’s first 1/4 final at Wimbledon, an event, where she has always struggled at. She will face Elina Svitolina of Ukraine, who defeated Victoria Azarenka.
