Terry Francona will make his return on the touchline after a health issue, which led to him being hospitalized in Kansas City and missing 3 games.
The 64-year-old is no stranger to such problems as he missed major chunks of the 2020 and 2021 season due to health-related issues.
“I actually feel OK today,” he said. “The last couple of days was really hard.”
The veteran manager had problems with his heart and high blood pressure.
The tests taken on Francona showed that the blood pressure was “within normal ranges”. He rejoined the Guardians for Thursday’s series finale but remained in his office during the game because of excessive heat at Kauffman Stadium.
DeMarlo Hale stepped in as Francona’s replacement, while the 64-year-old was absent, which is something he is familiar with as he led the Guardians for 63 games in 2021, when Francona was also going through health problems.
The Guardians enter the weekend tied with Minnesota for first place in the division. After three games with the Cubs, Cleveland plays seven games at home before the All-Star break.
