Tsitsipas advances to third round after defeating Carballes Baena

Stefanos Tsitsipas was victorious in his second round match-up with Roberto Carballes Baena in straight sets 6-3, 7-6 (7-4), 6-2.

The fifth seed Tsitsipas had no difficulties and was in full control throughout the whole match with the exception being the second set.

The Baena had a real chance of overcoming his much higher rated opponent, but Tsitsipas held his nerve and eventually prevailed in a tie-break.

In the third set the 24-year-old swept past the Spaniard and achieved victory in 2 hours and 16 minutes.

The 2021 French Open runner-up will face either Diego Schwartzman or Nuno Borges in the third round in his quest to repeat his feat from two years ago. Or even go one better, as the Greek is yet to lift a Grand Slam trophy, despite participating in two finals.
