The highly anticipated boxing match between YouTuber-turned-boxer Jake Paul and former world champion Mike Tyson, originally scheduled for July 20 at Arlington’s AT&T Stadium in Texas, has been postponed. The delay is due to Tyson experiencing an ulcer flare-up, which has hindered his ability to train properly.
Tyson, who is 57 years old, expressed his disappointment but emphasized the importance of his health. “Unfortunately, due to my ulcer flare-up, I have been advised by my doctor to lighten my training for a few weeks to rest and recover,” said Tyson. He reassured fans that his overall physical condition is excellent and that he plans to resume full training soon.
#PaulTyson is postponed. This validates everyone saying Tyson is too old. I wanted to see this fight due to the spectacle of it but now it’s just sad. 🫤 pic.twitter.com/yN5VbVyRjY

The fight had been officially sanctioned as a professional bout and was set to take place at the home of the NFL’s Dallas Cowboys. Organizers have indicated that the entire event, including the undercard, will be rescheduled. This likely means that the rematch between light-welterweight champion Katie Taylor and Amanda Serrano, which was also scheduled for that night, will be postponed as well.

Most Valuable Promotions (MVP), in collaboration with Netflix, is organizing the event. They stated that a new date for the fight will be announced on June 7. MVP highlighted the importance of ensuring both fighters have adequate time to prepare. “The recommendation is for Mike Tyson to do minimal to light training over the next few weeks and then return to full training with no limitations,” MVP said. They also noted that both Tyson and Paul agreed on the need for fair and equal training time to ensure a competitive match.
“The health and wellbeing of athletes is our top priority, and we fully support Mike in taking the necessary time to allow him to perform at the level he expects of himself,” MVP concluded.
