Max Verstappen expressed his jubilation after the Italian Grand Prix having pipped Sebastian Vettel’s record of 9 consecutive wins.
The Dutchman was yet again at his very best as he defeated the strong showing Ferrari’s and cruised to victory after making a pass on pole-sitter Carlos Sainz on Lap 15.
Speaking after the race Verstappen noted:
“I never would have believed [10 wins in a row] was possible, but we had to work for it today and that was definitely a lot more fun. We had good pace, we were good on the tires, but [Ferrari] had a lot of top speed.”
“It was so hard to get close and make the move into Turn 1. I had to force [Sainz] into a mistake and luckily it came at some point where he locked up, and I had better traction out of Turn 2, which was good, so we could do my own race.”
Verstappen now has a gigantic 145 points advantage over second-placed man in the Drivers Standings and it is only a matter of time before he collects his 3rd world title.
