The Mexican will undergo his medical today before becoming the Hammers’ first signing of the summer.
The 25-year-old is expected to fill in the gap, left by Declan Rice, even though he is more of a defensive midfielder.
Official confirmation of the completed transfer is expected to be released on Wednesday.
The news of Alvarez’ arrival is a huge boost for the Hammers, who have come under increasing pressure for not being able to acquire players this transfer window, despite the huge fee, received for Declan Rice’s transfer.
Other main targets for David Moyes and his team are Manchester United’s duo Harry Maguire and Scott McTominay, but it is still uncertain whether the Hammers will be able to complete the deals.
