In the middle of June, Inter Miami let Leo Messi join his teammates in the national team for the Copa America. However, the Argentinian star sustained an injury in the final that forced him out in the 2nd half, and he has yet to play. Despite leaving the pitch early, Argentina won the tournament and defended their continental crown in the competition that was held in the USA.
Without Leo in the squad, the Floridian team won 8 matches, but were also eliminated from the Leagues Cup. The club didn’t share a date for Leo’s return yet as the Argentinian is taking in individual training sessions.
Messi’s fitness is being assessed daily, as Tata Martino’s team is not ready to take any risks and will give Leo the necessary time to fully recover as the team wants to avoid any setbacks.
Inter Miami’s next match will be against FC Cincinnati on August 24th. Leo is unlikely to take part in that game, but there is optimism that he could play before August ends.
