He recorded his worst performance ever in Augusta National - a 10-over 82

After Tiger Woods’ record 24th consecutive made cut at Augusta National on Friday, hopes were high for a sixth Green Jacket. However, those hopes were dashed on Saturday with a nightmare third round, as the 48-year-old’s injury-battered body seemed to betray him, resulting in his worst-ever score at Augusta National—a 10-over 82.

This disappointing round marked the first time in 99 rounds that Woods failed to break 80 at the Masters, with his score four strokes higher than his previous worst in 2022. Coming into the tournament, Woods had played just 24 holes this year and faced a grueling schedule on Friday, completing the last five holes of his weather-delayed opening round followed by another 18 holes.

The physical and mental toll of this effort appeared too much for Woods, who has battled back, knee, and ankle injuries, as well as the aftermath of a near-fatal car crash in 2021. Despite a valiant effort to steady himself with pars on the 10th and 11th holes, the slide continued.

Though Woods received a warm reception walking onto the tee of Augusta’s iconic 12th hole, he struggled to another bogey. A lone birdie at the 13th was followed by four consecutive bogeys, culminating in a tough day on the course.

Despite the setbacks, Woods remains determined to compete, vowing to return for Sunday’s final round.
