NY Yankees player Gerrit Cole will begin playing catch in the upcoming days as the ace continues to rehab his ailing right elbow.
The New York head coach shared with the media today that Gerrit could start throwing tomorrow or the day after that.
The franchise placed the right-hander on the 2-month injured list before the beginning of the season because of a nerve inflammation in the elbow. He will be able to be on the field not before May 27th.
The expectation is if everything is going according to plan with his healing, he will play again at the beginning of June.
A 6-time All-Star, Cole was picked 1st overall by the Pittsburgh Pirates in the 2011 draft and is the reigning American League Cy Young Award champ.
Gerrit (33) was 15-4 in the past campaign with 222 strikeouts and a 2.63 ERA as he began from the 1st minute on the field in 33 matches for the Yankees.
