AC Milan’s head coach Stefano Pioli addressed questions about his future following 5-1 victory over Cagliari in Serie A, acknowledging the criticisms and uncertainties surrounding his position. Despite the win ending a series of six winless matches, including a loss to arch-rivals Inter who secured the title, Pioli remains unsure about his future with the club.
Pioli recognized the nature of the job, stating, “We are a big club, there are big expectations, so you have to be ready for harsh criticism, just as you expect stormy praise when you win.” He emphasized the challenge of managing a club with such high expectations and historical significance, where second place is not acceptable.
The coach expressed disappointment over the unrest among some fan groups, who have organized protests demanding clarity from the management about the team’s direction for the new season. Pioli highlighted the previous positive relationship between fans and the team, which has been strained by recent results and uncertainties.
Regarding his own future, Pioli admitted, “I haven’t spoken with the club yet, but we still have two more rounds.”
