Carlos Alcaraz triumphed in a thrilling China Open final, coming from a set down to defeat world number one and last year’s Beijing champion Jannik Sinner.
Alcaraz won the match 6-7 (6-8) 6-4 7-6 (7-3), marking his fourth ATP Tour title of the year and the 16th of his career.
Despite losing the first set, Alcaraz kept his composure and turned the match around with a determined and high-level performance.
He praised Sinner, calling him “the best player in the world,” while also expressing pride in his own resilience throughout the match:
“Jannik once again showed he’s the best player in the world, he’s unbelievable and plays such a high level of tennis.” He added, “I never lose hope but I know he has great stats. I knew I had to give everything I had to give myself the opportunity.”
