Carlos Alcaraz breeze past Lloyd Harris in straight sets 6-3, 6-1, 7-6 (4) to proceed to the third round of the US Open on Thursday night.
The first seed was the dominant force from the get-go as he broke Harris’ serve in the first set, before sweeping him in the second.

The 26-year-old did show signs of a fightback in the final set, bringing it down to the wire for a tie-break. But Alcaraz’ class proved too much for the South African as the Spaniard finished off the match.
“I think I played great, a great match,” Alcaraz said.
“He’s a really tough player. Good serve-and-volley, good net game,” Alcaraz said. “It’s going to be really tough. I will play my best. I will have to return very, very well if I want to win that match.”
Next up on the road for the defending champion is world No.26 Dan Evans of Great Britain.
