Team boss Szafnauer thinks Ocon and Gasly are not far off the rest

Alpine’s team principle Otmar Szafnauer admits that they don’t know their true potential this season after the Bahrain Grand Prix.

Pierre Gasly made very strong race from the back of the grid finishing into the points-paying positions, while Esteban Ocon received handful of penalties and decided to retire the car.

“We still don’t know its true pace because of some of the operational things that happened in the race,” Szafnauer said.

“Esteban had all of his issues that we talked about, Pierre was stuck in 19th for quite some time at the beginning. I don’t think we are far off.”, he added.
