Christoph Baumgartner and Marko Arnautovic struck in the second half to propel Austria to a 3-1 victory over Poland, significantly boosting their chances of reaching the knockout stages of Euro 2024.
The Group D clash in Berlin saw Austria take an early lead in the ninth minute with a fine header from Gernot Trauner off a Phillipp Mwene cross.

Poland managed to level the score on the half-hour mark when Krzysztof Piatek capitalized on a rebound to stab home. The match maintained a relentless pace, with both sides creating opportunities. Poland introduced their star forward Robert Lewandowski from the bench in the second half, hoping he could tilt the game in their favor.
However, it was Austria who seized control back after the break. Baumgartner finished off a slick move brilliantly just past the hour mark to restore Austria’s lead. Arnautovic then sealed the victory with a penalty 12 minutes from time, ensuring Austria took all three points.

The victory moves Austria level on points with group leaders France and the Netherlands, who are set to face each other later this evening. Poland, sitting at the bottom of the group, will be unable to finish in the top two if France avoids defeat.
