It looked like Calgary had sealed the victory as they led 5-3, but a late surge from Colorado saw them turn it around and secure an emphatic win.
Ross Colton scored with 8:40 remaining and Mikko Rantanen tied it up with 6:29 left before Nathan MacKinnon sealed the deal with an exceptional winner to send the Avalanche into ecstasy.
“We can take the positivity out of that game,” MacKinnon said. “No one was deflated. Even after 5-3 we kept pushing and kept a good attitude.”
Andrew Mangiapane, Blake Coleman, Connor Zary and Yegor Sharangovich еацх had а goal for the Flames against a mistake-prone Colorado defense, but sadly for them it came to no avail.
Tomas Tatar scored his first goal for Colorado after being signed in September. Cale Makar added a power-play goal and Ben Meyers notched another one of his own.
