A transfer was expected to be complex, with Michael’s release clause worth in the region of 60 million pounds, and % of any transfer due to the Premier League club, the footballer himself, and his ex-team Reading.
The Blues are understood to have had concerns about the overall cost of the transfer. Chelsea had unsuccessfully attempted to ink the French winger for around 35 million pounds in the past summer, believing they had activated his release clause. Olise subsequently inked a 4-year contract with Crystal Palace until the summer of 2027.
The new Bayern Munich winger has been selected in the French team for the Paris Olympics, which begin next month. Olise netted 10 goals in 19 matches for the Eagles in the past campaign, having missed several matches with a hamstring problem.
