American superstar Simone Biles didn’t win the gold medal she had aimed for.
Simone finished 2nd in the floor exercise finals today to get the silver medal – her 11th Olympic medal – after a routine that featured several costly steps out of bounds.

Brazilian Rebeca Andrade became the 1st gymnast to defeat Simone in a floor final in a major international tournament, securing a score of 14.166 that finished just ahead of the American 14.133.
Jordan Chiles, a longtime friend of Simone, secured the bronze medal.
Biles (27) labeled the greatest in the history of the gymnastics, wasn’t at her usual top level during the set. Despite that, Simone earned her 4th medal at the Olympic Games in Paris.
Simone’s medal total (featuring 7 gold, 2 silver, 2 bronze) evens Czechoslovakia’s Vera Caslavska for the 2nd most by a female gymnast in the Olympics. Biles failed to earn a 5th medal earlier today when she fell during the beam final, ending the competition at the 5th place.
