Simone Biles will not win a medal on the balance beam this time.
Biles slipped and fell off the apparatus at the end of her acrobatic series at the beam in the French capital today, denying her a chance to add to the bronzes she secured at the event in the previous 2 Olympics.
The American gymnastics superstar was more than halfway through her set when she slipped. Simone received a score of 13.100, evened with U.S. teammate Sunisa Lee for 4th place.
It took a more than the usual time to learn Biles score as she Simone felt that she is not going to win a medal and was very emotional during the wait.
Italian Alice D’Amato won the gold medal with a score of 14.366 while Chinese Zhou Yaqin finished with the silver medal with a 14.100 score just ahead of another Italian Manila Esposito.
