Guadreau starring with 5 points to his name

Columbus Blue Jackets were victorious in a hard-fought match against San Jose Sharks, defeating them 6-5 in OT on Tuesday night.

Johnny Guadreau scored the deciding goal with 43 seconds left in overtime, his second of the night, giving him five points in total. Gaudreau beat Kaapo Kahkonen after the Sharks’ goaltender stopped Patrick Laine on a 2-on-0 break and secured the victory for the Blue Jackets’ team.

Boone Jenner scored twice, while Liam Foudy and Kent Johnson added goals to help the Blue Jackets end a four-game losing streak.

Goaltender Daniil Tarasov made 27 saves and recorded an assist for his first NHL point.

William Eklund scored his first NHL goal for the Sharks. Logan Couture, Nikolai Knyzhov, Kevin Labanc and Alexander Barabanov also scored for San Jose, which lost its fourth in a row and seventh straight at home.

Kahkonen stopped 41 but was on a receiving end of a loss for a seventh consecutive time.

“You’re not going to win hockey games when you give up six goals and be that loose and give up the chances we gave up,” Sharks coach David Quinn said.

The Blue Jackets visit Los Angeles on Thursday night, while the Sharks welcome Seattle at home on Thursday night.
