Jessica Pegula defeated Elina Svitolina in an impressive fashion 6-4, 4-6, 6-2 at the third round of the US Open on Saturday night.
It was a tightly-fought contest all along as No.26 seed Svitolina proved to be a stern test for the American.

The No.3 Pegula took the first, before the Ukrainian struck back in the second.
It was even steven at 2-2 in the third set before Pegula broke her opponent before going on a 4-game winning streak, which put the match to bet.
The victory sets up a mouth-watering 4th round match-up with fellow American Madison Keys, who eliminated No.14 Luidmila Samsonova.
“Every time I practice with her, she just has the ability to just hit aces and rip forehands and backhands, play a really big power game,” Pegula said. “It will be interesting to see how smart I can play and what I can do to combat that.”
