Last year Raducanu became the first British woman to win a Grand Slam singles title since Virginia Wade in 1977
British tennis star Emma Raducanu was officially made a Member of the Order of the British Empire by King Charles III during an inverstiture ceremony at Windsor Castle on Tuesday.
“It’s been great to receive my honour today from His Majesty the King – I feel extremely grateful,” the 20-year-old said in a statement, issued by her agent.
Canada-born Raducanu, who is from Bromley in south-east London, won the US Open in September 2021 when she was 18 years old.
Raducanu became the first British woman to win a Grand Slam singles title since Virginia Wade in 1977 and the first qualifier of any nationality to do so.
