Conor McGregor’s long-awaited return to the Octagon won’t happen in 2024.
UFC chief Dana White spoke about the future of the ex-2-division champ after the season debut of “Dana White’s Contender Series”. While the UFC president shared his optimism that the Irish superstar will fight again, Dana shared that a match against Michael Chandler will not happen in 2024.
“We discussed, and he wants to be on the Octagon,” Dana revealed when asked when Conor will fight again. “We will figure it out. Not in 2024. McGregor won’t be on the Octagon until the end of the year.”
Conor, however, shared on social media that he can return in December and fight in 2024.
The Irish fighter has not been on the Octagon since breaking his leg vs. Dustin Poirier 3 years ago. McGregor had to make his return 2 months ago against Michael, but a broken toe forced him out of the bout.
Ah Dana, December is the date! Bring the calendar year home with a winning event! Come on now, what’s this? I am off to altitude next month to prepare. DECEMBER! Tell Dana and UFC WE WANT DECEMBER! WE DESERVE DECEMBER! https://t.co/ZTVO4wDBuQ
