Derek Carr is believed to have agreed terms with the Saints for 4-year-deal which would tie his long-term future with the New Orleans team.
The conditions of the agreement are still kept in secret as there is no official conntract signed yet. However, strong sources indicate that the veteran free agent has indeed come to terms with the team from New Orleans.
Carr played nine seasons for the Raiders and holds club records for yards passing (35,222) and touchdown passes (217). But after struggling late last season, he was put on the bench with two games remaining.
Carr, who turns 32 on March 28, was released by Las Vegas on Feb. 14 after he declined to accept the no-trade clause in his contract. That left Las Vegas with no choice, but to trade or release him by that date. Otherwise, $40.4 million of his contract over the next two years would have been secured.
Carr himself, rather cryptically, but blatantly, confirmed the news in social media post in Twitter, where he wrote the famous Saints chant “Who dat” with an inclusion of a video with Saints skipper Tyrann Mathieu leading a pre-game chant of: “Who dat say dey gonna’ beat dem Saints!”
