Novak Djokovic was full of joy after his victory over Carlos Alcaraz, winning 7-6(3), 7-6(2) in the men’s singles final at the Paris 2024 Olympics.
This triumph secured Djokovic his first Olympic gold medal, completing his illustrious career, as he has now won everything in tennis.
“I am overwhelmed by all the emotions I am feeling right now. I am very proud and very happy. I am thrilled to have the opportunity to bring Olympic gold to my country for the first time in my career. This is perhaps my greatest achievement. I have probably won everything that can be won in an individual career. Now I am starting to celebrate, and I can’t wait to see what will happen over the next 48 hours,” Djokovic said.
“This was the missing piece of the puzzle. I always tell myself that I have enough because I can be very self-critical. I don’t know, this is one of the toughest internal battles I continue to fight – the feeling that I haven’t done enough in my life on or off the court. So, this is a big lesson for me. I am grateful for the chance to win a historic gold medal for my country,” he concluded.
