Murray triumphed in the 1st set after both players converted 1 break and forced a tiebreak. The player from Great Britain dominated in the tiebreak and won 7-2 points.
Only one break was enough for Fritz to win the 2nd set 6-3 as Murray had one chance to break his opponent’s serve, but the American saved it.
Taylor won the 3rd set 6-4 again after only 1 break; that time, Andy had 7 chances to return the break, but Fritz saved all of them and won the epic battle in the tournament on hard in the US capital.
In the next round, Fritz will face world number 71 Jordan Thompson from Australia.
