Josh Naylor hit a crucial 2-run single in the 10th inning to help his team earn a difficult victory.
The Guardians were in full control at the beginning and looked all set to close the match in a comfortable fashion. It wasn’t to be as they as Emanuel Clase let a 4-run slip in the 9th, which led the Cubs back in the game.
Aaron Civale pitched three-hit ball over six innings, while Andrés Giménez homered in the third and scored the go-ahead run in the 10th.
Eventually Sam Hentges retired all three batters in the bottom half, sending the Cubs to their sixth loss in seven games.
