The Frenchman is a surprise inclusion as he was on the verge of leaving the London team with interest from Nice and Newcastle United.
Since Postecoglou’s arrival Lloris has been reduced to second-choice keeper behind Guglielmo Vicario and many believed the 36-year-old is due to leave.
He had been stripped of the captaincy earlier in the summer by the new head coach, who previously admitted that it looked unlikely Lloris would be included in his squad.
But the Australian coach seems to have changed his mind as he has given Lloris a chance to fight for his place as Frazer Forster is also among the included.
Eric Dier was also among the selected, despite not playing even a single minute in the new season.
