A late rally in the 8th inning, which saw Chris Taylor and pinch-hitter J.D. Martinez drew consecutive bases-loaded walks, was sufficient to give the Dodgers their 6th consecutive win against San Diego.
They have now outscored them 29-12 since losing 5-2 on May 5.
Rookie James Outman had a spectacular game, stealing a homer from Fernando Tatis Jr. with an excellent leaping catch and then achieving his 13th homer of the season.
Robert Suarez allowed five runs on two hits and three walks while getting just two outs on a career-high 33 pitches in the eighth. Kiké Hernàndez hit a leadoff single and Mookie Betts walked before Suarez retired Freddie Freeman and Will Smith.
Then came the game-changing 8th inning, when David Peralta singled to tie the game at 3 and Jason Heyward was intentionally walked to load the bases. Taylor drew a walk to bring in Betts with the go-ahead run and chase Suarez. Tom Cosgrove came on and walked Martinez and Amed Rosario followed with a two-run single to right to make it 7-3.
Three more runs followed in the ninth with Taylor hitting an RBI single , Peralta a sacrifice fly and Will Smith an RBI double.
