The Detroit Lions are inking QB Jared Goff to a 4-year, 212 million dollar deal extension that features 170 million dollars guaranteed.
The contract makes the 2016 1st overall selection the highest-paid football in the organization’s history.
The 53 million dollars per year in Jared’s new contract makes him the 2nd-highest paid QB in the league, behind only the Cincinnati Bengals’ Joe Burrow, who earns 2 million dollars more annually.
Lions have now rewarded 3 of its stars this offseason with over 444 million dollars in deal extensions to Jared, WR Amon-Ra St. Brown and OT Penei Sewell.
St. Brown got a 4-year, 120 million dollar contract, and Sewell inked a 4-year, 112 million dollar deal. With those massive contracts in place, Detroit is aware that the ambitions of the team are very high.
“We’ve got a lot of things to achieve,” Goff shared with the media in the past month. Jared added that expectations are high, but the team is ready for the higher standard.
