The Toronto Maple Leafs fired Sheldon Keefe as head coach of the team.
The Canadian NHL organization revealed that they will start to look for his replacement immediately.
“It was not an easy decision,” Toronto GM Brad Treliving shared. “Keefe is a great manager and a great human being; however, we decided a new person is needed to help the franchise push through to reach our next level. We appreciate his time in Toronto and how hard he worked for the Maple Leafs over the last 9 seasons and wish him and his family only positive things in the future.”
It is yet unknown if assistant coaches of the Maple Leafs will be dismissed, which featured people like Malhotra, Chynoweth and Boucher.
Sheldon has 2 campaigns remaining on a deal extension the general manager inked him in the past summer, which doesn’t officially starts until the 2024-25 campaign.
Keefe shared on social media that he will always be grateful for the chance to be the manager of the Maple Leafs.
