Marcos Alonso has turned down a two-year deal from Manchester United, meaning he will stay at Barcelona for at least another year.
The Red Devils are in emergency search of a left-back after the news Luke Shaw will be sidelined for several months with muscle injury and Alonso has emerged as one of the candidates.
Reports suggest that United approached Barcelona and offered a loan bid for the left-back, but the 32-year-old has chosen to stay with the Catalan giants.
Alonso has a year left on his contract and is keen on seeing it out.
The 32-year-old is happy at Blaugrana despite not being first choice.
Meanwhile, United’s search continues as the team tries to fill in the void left by Shaw and Tyler Malacia, who is also out with an injury.
