The London team kept their unbeaten record despite being reduced to 10 man

Tottenhman Hotspur defeated Luton 1-0 in a tightly-contested game to go top of the Premier League table on Saturday.

Ange Postecoglou’s men had to dig deep as they were reduced to 10 men, when Yves Bissouma was sent off just before half-time.

Nevertheless, they pulled themselves together and a fine strike from new signing from Micky van de Ven gave them the much needed lead and eventually the full 3 points.

The Dutchman was ecstatic for scoring his first Premier League goal especially given its importance.

“On the way to the stadium on the bus Sonny [Son Heung-min] told me: ‘You’re going to score your first goal today’,” he said on TNT Sports.

“I didn’t think so. I said: ‘Maybe, who knows.’ But it is perfect because now I have scored my first goal.

“I think we showed a great mentality as a team.”

With the win Spurs maintain their almost perfect start under the management of Postecoglou as they lead the table with 20 points out of possible 24. However, they must wait for the big clash tomorrow between last year’s title contenders Arsenal and Manchester City as both can overtake them should they win.
