“I am convinced this will happen because Mr. [Adam] Silver said it himself. The NBA sees clear opportunities in Europe. They’ve identified a vulnerability and decided to act on it,” Garbahosa stated. He added, “We are proud that the NBA has declared any initiative in Europe will be organized in partnership with FIBA. They greatly respect FIBA’s reputation and trust in our organization.”
Reports suggest that the NBA’s envisioned league could become a major rival to the Euroleague, currently the top-tier basketball competition in Europe. While the timeline and specifics remain unclear, this development highlights the NBA’s growing interest in expanding its global footprint, particularly in a basketball-rich region like Europe.
