Just before the end of the 1st half of the TNF match between the San Francisco 49ers and New York Giants, San Francisco’s left tackle Trent Williams was shown to throw a right-handed punch to the facemask of New York DT A’Shawn Robinson.
The incident between the players resulted in penalty flags for unnecessary roughness on both players, forcing 49ers QB Brock Purdy to kneel again to end the half. But after seeing what happened, the NFL franchise from the Big Apple wondered why Trent wasn’t ejected.
𝗧𝗥𝗨𝗘 𝗢𝗥 𝗙𝗔𝗟𝗦𝗘: #49ers LT Trent Williams should’ve been ejected for this punch on #Giants DT A’Shawn Robinson.
This is a much clearer angle of what happened.

The league senior vice president of referees, Walt Anderson, talked to a pool reporter after the 49ers’ 30-12 victory, sharing that the officials reviewed the incident using the available footage to consider whether further action must be taken.
“We reviewed the video we had available to us, and we just didn’t see anything that can cause to be given flagrant foul,” the senior vice president told the reporter.
