Cameron Norrie has been knocked out of the Miami Open second round in straight sets 6-3, 6-2 by the clear underdog Gregoire Barrere, who is ranked 65 in the world.
Norrie was outclased in all departments by his much lower-ranked opponent as the Frenchman, ramked 65, sealed a pretty commanding victory in just over an hour. He will face Christopher Eubanks in the third round.
Despite his previous succes at this event, Norrie will leave this year empty-handed.
The other Briton Dan Evans also suffered a shock second round defeat to Italian Lorenzo Sonego, who came from behind to win 4-6, 6-3, 6-2. Evans started out strong, but the resilient Italian, who is ranked 59, held on and staged a marvelous comeback to secure a place in the third round.
