Sergio Perez has had a miserable run of results in the last couple of races, which have negated his all in all impressive start of the 2023 season.
The Mexican was only 6 points behind his teammate Max Verstappen after 4 races and looking like a serious title contender.
However, a recent slump in qualifying form, where the 33-year-old has failed to reach Q3 in five consecutive race weekends, has meant that his races have been hampered and all he could do has been damage limitations.
As a result Perez has dropped a massive 99 points behind his teammate and only something close to a miracle will prevent the Dutchman from clinching his 3rd consecutive title.
However, the Mexican still remains optimistic and has vowed to come back stronger.
“I know where is the problem, and it’s on Saturday. In qualifying there is a few things we need to correct, but the positive thing is that the pace is there on Sundays, at the end of the day where points are given.” he said
“I’m still second in the championship and I have full belief that I can turn around my season and get back to the level I should be.”
