Los Blancos missed a penalty to make the victory even more remarkable

Real Madrid secured a commanding 4-0 victory over LaLiga contenders Girona on Saturday, stretching their lead at the top of the table to five points. Jude Bellingham netted twice, while Vinicius Jr and Rodrygo also found the back of the net. Unfortunately for the England international, he had to leave the field with an injury moments after scoring his second goal.

Girona, who had been unbeaten in 15 league games since their previous loss to Real in September, aimed to move to the top of the standings with a victory. However, they remain in the second spot, while Carlo Ancelotti’s squad now boasts 61 points from 24 games.

The hosts initiated the scoring just six minutes into the game when Vinicius Jr capitalized on Fede Valverde’s pass, delivering a remarkable long-range shot for his seventh league goal of the season. Bellingham then doubled the lead in the 36th minute, finishing with ease past Girona goalkeeper Paulo Gazzaniga after receiving Vinicius’ through ball. Bellingham completed his brace in the 54th minute, tapping in a loose ball in the six-yard box.

Rodrygo put the finishing touches on the emphatic victory in the 61st minute, receiving Vinicius’ second assist and unleashing a powerful shot into the far corner. In the dying seconds of the game, Joselu missed a penalty, but it didn’t overshadow Real Madrid’s dominant performance.
