The German midfielder says he just 'wants to play football and have fun'

Former Borussia Dortmund forward Marco Reus has signed with Major League Soccer’s LA Galaxy, expressing his ambition to help the team reclaim the championship. The 35-year-old, who spent 12 years with Dortmund before departing at the end of last season, joins a club with a rich history but one that hasn’t won the MLS title since 2014.

Reus follows in the footsteps of legendary players like David Beckham, Steven Gerrard, and Zlatan Ibrahimovic, who have all donned the Galaxy jersey. Despite being the most successful team in MLS history, LA Galaxy has been overshadowed in recent years by their local rivals, LAFC, who won the title in 2022 and now boast French World Cup winners Hugo Lloris and Olivier Giroud.

With MLS set to resume later this month, the Galaxy are currently leading the Western Conference, with LAFC close behind. Reus, ready for the challenge, humorously acknowledged the rivalry, saying, “I will be ready for a duel with Giroud.”

Reus added, “I just wanted to play football and have fun with a new experience at a new club. LA Galaxy have not won the title for 10 years. This year, I think we have a good chance to bring the championship back. That is why I am here.”
