Cristian Romero and Richarlison are believed to have issued an ultimatum over their future just before manager Antonio Conte left the club by mutual consent.
According to Argentinian journalist the relationship between the two player and the ex-coach hit a low point after the Italian’s brutal outlash in a press conference, following his team collapse against Southampton.
The Italian’s criticism seems to have deepened the relationship hole he found himself with his own players with Pierre-Emile Hojberg urging the manager to elaborate on his assessment. Others like Romero and Richarlison were more radical in their response as they vowed to leave the club if Conte doesn’t get the sack.
‘Yes, I say that because we can say it, in fact we waited to say it. Cristian Romero was rethinking about his stay at the club if Conte remained. As I understand it, the same thing happened with Richarlison.’ the Argentinian reporter said
‘Because he treated them very badly, not only face to face or in a private environment but also publicly. Conte publicly criticised the players and that caused friction. But now Romero is going to stay at Tottenham, that’s the plan.’
Tottenham will be managed by Conte’s assistant Cristian Stellini and with the help of Ryan Mason for the remainder of the season, as they desperately look for a full-time manager to fill in the void left by Conte.
