Andrey Rublev suffered a surprising 0:2 set loss (4:6, 3:6) to Mackenzie McDonald in the second round of the Toronto Masters.
The first set was uneventful until the ninth game, when the American managed to break the seventh in the world and afterwards closed out the set without dropping a point in her service game.
The world number 59 took control of the second set early on and did not relinquish it until the end of the set, managing a second break at 5-3 and not needing to serve to win the match. MacDonald did not lose his serve once during the match, showing his concentration.
In the Round of 16, he will meet the winner of the match between local favorite Milos Raonic and Taro Daniel.
