As Dre prepared to return on the field for another San Francisco defensive series with almost 10 minutes left in the 2nd quarter of Super Bowl’s 25-22 OT defeat against the Chiefs, Greenlaw sustained a left leg injury. His manager admitted after the match that his linebacker tore his ACL.
Fellow Niners LB Fred Warner reacted in anger after seeing his teammate hurt. DE Nick Bosa watched in stunned silence as Dre had difficulties moving and the doctors began treating him. Moments later, the linebacker was carted off to the locker room.
“It was tough. Sometimes, when things like that happen, it could have a negative impact on the game just because it’s such an emotional feeling,” Bosa shared.
Fred Warner on Dre Greenlaw tearing his Achilles:
“I’m sick to my stomach. I’m still sick. I see him at halftime and I’m crying cause I’m so hurt for him and obviously wanting to win this for him and… sickening.”
