Serbia reaches Olympic 1/2 finals with OT win vs. Australia

Nikola Jokic finished with 21 points and 14 boards, and Serbia came back to defeat Australia 95-90 in overtime to advance to the Olympic basketball ½ finals.

Bogdan Bogdanovic notched 17 points for the European country, which came back from a 24-point 1^st half trail to secure a ½ final match against either the USA or Brazil.

Serbia is aiming for its 1^st Olympic medal since the 2016 Games in Rio de Janeiro, where they finished 2^nd. That was the debut Olympic for a then 21-year-old Nikola.

Bogdan admitted after the match that, at one point, he and his teammates doubted that they would be able to complete a comeback.

“To speak frankly, we didn’t keep cool,” Bogdanovic claimed. “But we knew we were down, and we needed to find some momentum and rhythm. Australia had the whole momentum during the 1^st half. As I revealed in the past, this is the biggest pressure of the competition – the ¼ finals. You know if you are defeated, you’re eliminated from the tournament.”
