Jannik Sinner, world number 1, won his 1st match after missing the Olympic Games in Paris against world number 94, Borna Coric, at the Masters 1000 in Montreal and advanced to the 1/8 finals of the tournament.
The Italian had 10 break opportunities in the 1st set as Sinner converted 2 of them while at the same time, Coric didn’t have a single chance to break Jannik’s serve.
In the 2nd set, 1 break chance was enough for Sinner as he converted it and saved the only break opportunity that Borna had in the set and won it 6-2 to secure the victory in straight sets and reach the next phase of the Masters in Montreal where he will face either his compatriot Sonego or Tabilo.
Jannik is the big favorite at the tournament, as big names like Alcaraz and Djokovic will not play here after competing at the Olympics.
