Iga Swiatek emerged victorious in her 1/2 final clash against Coco Gauff 6-2, 6-3 to put an end to the American’s 16-game winning streak.
The Pole was the dominant force all around and left no doubts as to who the eventual winner will be.
Swiatek made only 4 unforced errors in the first set as she swooped past Gauff in just 40 minutes.

Nothing much changed in the second as Swiatek broke as early as the 2nd game. A brief medical timeout for Gauff was not enough to put her off as she comfortably closed out the match.
“I’m really happy with my performance,” Swiatek said. “It feels like I can play freely again, so I’m really happy. It’s been a while since I felt that way. So, I’ll remember for the rest of my career that even though tougher times may come, in your mind, you can always overcome that. And with hard work, you can achieve it.”
She will now face world No.22 Liudmila Samsonova in Sunday’s final in quest of getting back at the top.
On the other hand, Gauff succumbed to her first loss since the 1/4 finals in Montreal. Her unbelievable run includes victories in Cincinnati and famously at the US Open.
