Erik ten Hag has challenged the Red Devils’ new chiefs to “prove” they back him by sticking with him during difficult times next campaign.
The Dutch head coach has kept his position despite finishing 8th in the EPL in the past campaign, and the team’s new leadership team — led by Sir Jim Ratcliffe and Sir Dave Brailsford – looking for replacements during the summer.
Erik had his deal extended by another season, but there is feeling among some fans his position remains uncertain, in case the Red Devils began the new campaign bad.
The manager, however, shared that Ratcliffe and Brailsford can only prove they had his back by retaining their faith during good and bad periods next season.
“I believe that we are building something and that the people around me, we are looking at the same direction,” Ten Hag shared in an interview in LA on the Man United’s preseason tour.
Ten Hag added that only time will tell if he is right and that he hopes that the owners will stick with him even though bad runs next season.
"We need the right energy. We need the right spirit, fight and good ideas to make this happen" 🔋
