Mercedes boss Toto Wolff has criticized Christian Horner, stating that the Red Bull team boss must uphold the highest standards as a “role model” in Formula 1.
The Austrian spoke in Bahrain during the pre-season tests regarding the scandal that shook the sport.
Horner is accused of “controlling behavior” and sexual harassment by a staff member. He vehemently denies the allegations. Pressure from various stakeholders in the sport is mounting, calling for a swift resolution to the issue.
“It’s clear: Formula 1 and the teams stand for inclusion, equality, fairness, and diversity. This means not only talking about it but living it every day. These are the standards we set for ourselves,” said Wolff.
“We are a global sport and one of the most important sports platforms in the world with role models. However, in recent weeks, there has been a lot of speculation. What is important at this stage is to complete a process. It has to be done the right way, with transparency.”
“We want to talk about racing cars and the sport, not these very, very critical topics. This is not just a team issue, but a phenomenon and a problem for the entire Formula 1 and for everyone working there,” added the Mercedes team boss.
